Mr. Hugo Valenzuela, born May 15, 1942, to Rosa Margarita Jara de Valenzuela and Lizardo Valenzuela Cuellar, gained his wings to heaven June 19, 2024, peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife, kids and grandchildren. Mr. Valenzuela, born and raised in Peru, was of Peruvian and Spanish ancestry. He had a passion for athletics and music. As a child and into adulthood, he played basketball competitively. In his 20's, alongside his brother and cousin, he played the guitar and sang in a Peruvian band named, "Trios Los Palmeros" often featured on the local radio. At 81, he was often seen at Baker’s Park playing and chasing after his grandchildren or, at the YMCA enjoying a game of racquetball with grandchildren. He was a family man, a US patriot, and a pillar of the community. He moved mountains to help support and connect with his kids and grandchildren. He was widowed after 34 years of marriage to Elizabeth Valenzuela and later remarried Blanca Myrian Valenzuela. He served his community as a Spanish interpreter working with parents within the school system. He loved the United States of America and soon became a US Citizen. He held his late wife's hand till she took her last breath. Blanca held his hand till he took his last breath. He remained devoted to Blanca Valenzuela until the end of his life. With his wife, kids and grandkids by his side, he believed he accomplished the American Dream. He earned his Teaching and English degrees and worked as a teacher in Peru. He moved to the US in 1974 for occupational purposes and family. Later, he accepted a position within SB Thomas’s English Muffins and after 35+ years, he retired as a manager. To this day, he enjoyed his nooks and crannies for breakfast! He was generous and kind to all who met him. He took the high road whenever possible. His positive energy reshaped many rainy days for those who knew or know him. He is remembered with much love, by his wife Blanca Valenzuela, his daughters Yessika and Yulissa, his son David(Spouse-Sharon), and his 9 grandchildren (his pride and joy), Joseph, Devon, Blake, Rosa, Saraya, David, Michael, Scarlett, and Tatyana. By his daughter, he is remembered for his acceptance of humanity and human nature (flawed and unflawed), acceptance of her, his belief in God and his perseverance through challenging times and his humility. He (and his siblings) lost his mother at 3 years old and shortly after his father was gone, yet, he was able to find a way to live a stable, independent lifestyle despite the tumultuous hardships that plagued his upbringing, defining the meaning of perseverance. We are grateful to all who visited with Mr. Valenzuela during the month of June 2024. Thank you for kindness and support. Friends and relatives may visit on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Homes, P.A. 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701. Interment will be held privately.
