Hiley Ash Orndorff

Mr. Hiley Ash Orndorff known to many as either “Pete” or “Ashe” passed away at Frederick Health Hospital on July 3, 2023, of lung cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline Louise (nee Whitmore) Orndorff (2004) Hiley was born on December 10, 1939, in Frederick to the late Parry Curtis Orndorff, Sr. and the late Katherine Elizabeth (nee Rinehart) Orndorff. He was predeceased by his sister, Gwendolyn Valere Tressler (2020) and his brother, Perry Curtis Orndorff, Jr. (1996). He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, Diana Mobley, Patricia Garst, Phyllis Schilling, nephew Curtis Orndorff, sister-in-law, Phyllis LaRue Cramer, brother-in-law, Robert Whitmore and many friends. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1958 then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963 during the Viet Nam War. Hiley was a life member of the AMVets Post #2 and past post commander in the years 1983-84. Hiley was one of the very first dispatchers for the Frederick County Fire and Rescue at the old Montevue Hospital and was a life member of Independent Hose Company #1. He worked as a stone carver and setter for Lough Monument Company, and later retiring from Clustered Spires Golf Course. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at which time a funeral service will commence in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of Keeney & Basford Funeral Homes, 106 E. Church St. Frederick, Maryland 21701.Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Hiley’s family would like to publicly express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Frederick Health Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care of Hiley during his stay.
