Gertrude J. Wetzel

On January 24, 2022, Gertrude J. Wetzel, passed away peacefully at her home while surrounded by family. She bravely battled breast cancer for 15 years.

She was born in Frederick on June 22, 1949 and was the daughter of the late William White and Margaret Bean White.

Gertrude was a housekeeping supervisor and faithful employee at Homewood Retirement Community for 45 years. She loved her family, camping and trips to Charles Town Casino.

Gertrude is survived by her children David Tobery (Lisa), Marsha Tobery and Michael Tobery, grandchildren Holly Blank, Sheila Blank, Shelly Blank, Kody Blank, Michael Main, Dylan Main, Ashlynn Main, Kaylee Main and Dixie Geisinger, great grandchildren Kyliah Adams, DJ Adams, Jay'Lynn Adams, Kason Adams, McKinsley Snapp and Malani Hernandez, Sisters Mary Mackley and Marie Brennan, brothers Robert White, Richard White and Jerry White, and her loving companion Daniel Wilber.  Gertrude is predeceased by her husband Bernard Wetzel, daughter Lisa Main, granddaughter Stacy Tobery and siblings Donnie White, Billy White and Sue Hillary.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Keeney & Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 27 at 2 PM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Following the funeral, there will be a celebration of Gertrude's life at the Owl's Club located at 316 Jefferson Street, Frederick, MD.
