G. Edward Petro

Edward “Ed” Petro, age 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 23, 2024.  He was the beloved husband of Deborah (married 34 years), devoted father of Rachel, cherished brother of Laure (Christine), brother-in-law to Judith (John) and Susie, adored uncle of Anna (Alex) and Matthew (Courtney).  He is also survived by many cousins.  Ed is preceded in death by his parents George and Rose Petro.

Born on July 1, 1963 in Lackawanna New York, he was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he attended St. Louise De Marillac Grade School and Seton LaSalle High School.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and received his MBA from the University of Baltimore.  Ed started his own consulting business for manufacturing and supply chain solutions that he successfully ran for 20 years.  His work took him to many locations both domestic and international.

Ed enjoyed many activities, especially those he could share with others, such as golfing, fishing, traveling, and photography.  He enjoyed many years of winemaking with his friends and was also a fantastic woodworker, most recently making beautiful custom wine racks.  A strong man of faith, Ed was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Men’s Ministry, and served as an usher at his church, St. Ignatius of Loyola.

A visitation with family and friends will be held Wednesday February 28th between the hours of 4:00pm and 7:00pm at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland.  A visitation will be offered at St. Ignatius of Loyola on Thursday February 29th between 10:00am and 11:00am with the Funeral Mass occurring at 11:00am also at St. Ignatius of Loyola, 4103 Prices Distillery Rd, Ijamsville, Maryland.

In his honor, donations can be made to the Poor Clare Monastery, 2505 Stonehedge Drive, Alexandria, Virginia 22306.

Edward was a loving husband, devoted father, great friend, and caring man.  His passion for life was evident in all that he did. He will be missed by many and fondly remembered by all.
