Evelyn Virginia Inmon

Evelyn Virginia Inmon, 96, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Sunday February 12, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born in Mt. Solon, Virginia to the late Reverend Ira William and Elsie Virginia (nee Showalter) Shindle. She was the beloved wife to the late Sam Wiley Inmon.

Evelyn began her career as a registered nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, in the emergency room and then as head nurse for the "Blue Baby" heart surgical recovery room. She would later move to Nashville, Tennessee and work as the head nurse of the general surgery recovery room at Vanderbilt Hospital, then became head surgery staff nurse in Corsicana, Texas before coming back to Maryland to work at Calvert Memorial and later Frederick Memorial Hospitals until her retirement in 1986.

Evelyn was a member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church for over 55 years. She was known as Miss Evelyn to all her Sunday School children.

She is survived by her children Randall W. Inmon, Debra L. Inmon, and Cathy L. Inman and husband Kevin; grandchildren Bethany A. Patterson and husband Zack, and Devin M. Inman; and siblings W. Richard Shindle and Robert L. Shindle. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her sister Dorothy M. Shindle.

A memorial service will be held at Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702, on Monday February 27, 2023 at 1pm. An ice cream gathering will be held after the service. Inurnment will be held privately.
