Evelyn Thelma Dorsey Smith

Evelyn T. Dorsey Smith, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed into her eternal home, on Sunday, March 16th 2025. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Roy W. & Sadie M. Hawker Himes. Twice married, she was the wife of LeRoy W. Dorsey who died May 18, 1988. LeRoy and Evelyn were blessed with two lovely children. A son Gary L. Dorsey (1954-2015) and daughter Wanda J. Stone. She then married J. Howard Smith who died September 25, 1998, giving Evelyn two wonderful step-children, Sandra Corridon and Dennis Smith.

For 23 years Evelyn was the receptionist and switchboard operator at Frederick Trading Company, retiring in 1997.

A member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a former member of Braddock Lutheran Church for twenty years, where she served in many capacities.

Evelyn enjoyed crocheting Afghans for her family and friends, sewing, helping at her daughter and son-in law's flower shop, Sunday outings after church with her step daughter and most of all, cooking and having her family home for holiday dinners.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701 with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, Maryland 21701.
