Miss Evelyn (Peg) Davis, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 25, 2019. She was one of four daughters born to the late George and Grace (Lambert) Davis on August 3, 1924.
Peg, a lifelong resident of Frederick, lived in the house in which she was born until she was 88. At that time, she became a resident of the, then, Citizens Nursing Home.
She was a faithful member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and, at one time, was the oldest member of the church choir. Her love of music took her to many church concerts and musical activities.
In her earlier years, she was an avid bowler, a faithful Redskins fan, enjoyed word-search books and the local newspaper, usually reading it in the morning and again in the evening.
Preceding her in death are sisters Darlene Davis, Mary Alice Marks and Lois Jean Norwood, brothers-in-law James D. Marks, Jr. and William H. Norwood, Sr., and nephew William H. Norwood, Jr.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews but will be especially remembered by Sandy and Jim Gangawere, Fran Norwood, Greg and Sue Marks and Pam and Reed Wachter, great-nieces and great-nephews Heather, Jacob and Cassidy Farley, Chance Tolbert, Christine, Fred and Connor Babbittt and Kara, Eric and Camden Burnett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of Frederick County (her wonderful caregivers) P. O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702 or to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick, 35 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
