Eric "Rick" Monroe O'Brien, passed away at his retirement home in Todd, PA, on 29 April 2024, after battling cancer for 2 years. Rick was born on 11 October 1954 in Frederick, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Dorothy O'Brien and his son Eric.
Rick graduated from Frederick High School in 1974 and went on to play football for the Frederick Falcons. He would work many jobs throughout his life, most memorable serving Frederick County, MD as a firefighter, deploying with the Patriot Missile Systems and driving tractor-trailers throughout the U.S. He was proud and passionate to operate the 1939 Aaron Fox, fire apparatus.
Eric loved his family and was so proud of his children and adored his grandchildren. Eric is survived by his siter Sharon, loving wife Marie, children Danielle, Cody, Corey, Jennifer, Robert and Michael and 7 grandchildren. He had a knack for making friends easily, he would talk to anyone and loved to make people laugh.
The family will receive friends at Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701, on Tuesday May 14, 2024 from 4 - 7 PM and on Wednesday, May 15, from 9-10 AM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 10 AM. Interment will be in Clustered Spires Cemetery, 400 Linden Avenue, 21703.
