Emily Putman Caviness, born 03/02/1956, died unexpectedly 12/20/2023, 10:00 am, aged 67, at Frederick Health Hospital of a ruptured brain aneurysm. She leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Douglas, her son and daughter in law Eric and Jaclyn, Bowens, three grand-children: Gavin, Brandon and Naomi. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Gwyn and Jon White of Smithsburg, MD, brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Mary Putman of Houlka, MS and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Randolph and Betty Putman and her first husband Ernie Bowens. Emily was a graduate of Thomas Johnson HS. She attended Frederick Community college before transferring to the University of Maryland School of nursing where she graduated with a BS in Nursing. She worked at UMD hospital in Baltimore, then moved back to Frederick and created the FMH Cardiac Rehabilitation program, she then transitioned to FMH Home Health Care. Along the way she earned her MBA from Frostburg University. In her youth she participated in many activities, including 4H and majorettes. In her early to mid 30s she was diagnosed with Stargarts Disease, a form of macular degenerative. She was declared legally blind and retired from nursing. She started and was the adult advisor to the 4H dog club. She started and along with her husband, ran Greenbriar Gun Dog supplies. She was a dynamic and intelligent woman, and like the sign in her kitchen said, “She was no ordinary farm girl”. She will be sorely missed by her many friends and family. She was the light of my life.
