Eloise Elizabeth Carpenter was born February 28,1938 in Frederick, Maryland, and she died at home of natural causes at 86 on September 28, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Eldred Carpenter and Mabel Catherine (Pearl) Carpenter and brother David Eugene Carpenter. She is survived by sister Margaret Amelia Tucker and brother-in-law Daniel B. Tucker, nephews Brian D. Tucker and Michael T. Tucker and niece Julianne K. Carpenter and many beloved great-nieces and nephews.
Eloise flourished in her last year of life. She loved attending Worldshine Adult Medical Day Care Center and visiting with the ladies at table one. The staff at Worldshine made her feel welcomed and provided daily care that enabled her to live independently, with the recent addition of an afternoon in-home caregiver. Her good neighbors on both sides, the Gue and Schultz families, assisted her for many years. From mowing her lawn to helping open jars and many other kindnesses, their help along with family assistance allowed Eloise to remain in her lifelong family home.
Eloise was a dedicated member of Grace Trinity Church and will be missed by her church family. Earlier in life, Eloise was an avid duck pin bowler. She was a member of the Tuesday and Wednesday Ladies Bowling League at the former Village Lanes. She proudly displayed her trophies including 1983 first place, 1987, 1989, and 1992 League Championships and second place 1994. In 1993 she received an award for high score of 199.
For many years Eloise provided custodial services for Grace Trinity Church and served as a companion, helping elderly neighbors. She loved listening to music, riding her bike, taking walks in the neighborhood, and her cat Cali. She appreciated the lifelong friendship of her former neighbor Margaret Bashear, who later in life provided weekly transportation for errands and fun. Eloise enjoyed having “lunch with the seniors” with Margaret’s support. A memorial service is planned at Keeney Basford Funeral home in Frederick 10 am Friday October 4, with green burial to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Jefferson at 11:30, where she will be interred next to her parents. Everyone is welcomed.
