Eleanor R. Bittle

Mrs. Eleanor R. Bittle, 98, of Myersville, died Thursday, January 10, 2019.  She was the wife of the late Paul F. Bittle, who preceded her in death in 1977. Born in Flint Hill and a life-long resident of Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Bessie (Horman) Ricketts. Eleanor grew up on her family farm in Buckeystown.  Eleanor and Paul owned and operated the Bittle Funeral Home which would become Ricketts Funeral Home in Myersville.   She was also a rural mail carrier for over 20 years with the US Postal Service. She was predeceased by her siblings, Anna Page, Dorothy Ricketts and Lawrence Ricketts and her nephew James Page Jr.   Surviving her is her brother Walter Ricketts and his wife Joan; her niece Sharon Ricketts Bellosi and husband Joey; niece Karen Ricketts Ramge and husband Fred and nephew Allan Ricketts and wife Valerie.  She is also survived by great nephews and nieces Bryan Page, Jaime Page and wife Kerry, Amanda Olyniec Myers and husband Drew, Hanna Olyniec, Steven Ricketts and Spencer Ricketts and sister in-law Patty Ricketts.   The funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Cemetery, St. John's Lutheran Church in Myersville or the Myersville Volunteer Fire Department.  Online condolences may be shared at www.keeneybasford.com.
