On Tuesday, August 9, 2022 our beloved mother, Efegenia (Effie) Maxwell, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away. Effie was born in Washington, DC on March 31, 1927 to the late George and Arwilda Lambas, and was the beloved wife of the late Paul J. Maxwell. She is survived by her daughters Carol Reitz Mitchell (Peter) and Barbara Maxwell McNally (Edward) as well as her four grandchildren: Christopher Reitz (Jen), Jennifer Nader (Jim), Margaret McNally Metz (Brad), Paul Brady McNally and seven great grandchildren: Evangeline Nader, Tyler Metz, Katherine Reitz, James Nader, Andrew Metz, Amelia Reitz and Samuel Nader.
Effie graduated from St. Patrick's Academy on G Street in DC. After graduation, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for various companies until her retirement but her longest tenure and the position she most enjoyed was with Trinity Missions in Silver Spring, Maryland. She loved family dinners and taking her grandchildren on vacations. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and her legacy of love will live forever.
The family will receive friends at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Friday, August 19 from 10:30 – 11:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. followed immediately by her Interment at St. John's Cemetery, E. 3rd St., Frederick, MD.
