Edgar Crutchley

Edgar E. Crutchley died peacefully Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Silverado Frederick Memory Care Community. He was born March 2, 1937, the grandson of and raised by Elva and Marion Crutchley. His parents were Nellie King and Edgar Crutchley. Ed was born at his aunt’s house on Bentz St. in Frederick and had many fond memories of living next door with his grandparents. He attended Frederick County schools, graduating from FHS in 1955.

Ed was employed by American Optical until it’s closing in 1981. He then worked briefly for Key Chevrolet and finally went on to work at Lough Monuments until his retirement in 1999.

Ed was a long-time member of the VFW Country Club where he loved to play golf. He also loved hanging with his buddies at Firestone's Culinary Tavern and the American Legion, Francis Scott Key Post 11. He also loved the staff and crabcakes at Gladchuk Bros Restaurant.

Ed is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Cornelia (Neile) Crutchley and nephew James L. Crutchley.

Ed is survived by his half-brother James Crutchley and wife Soledad, his son, Ed Crutchley Jr. and his daughter, Tammy Haller; grandchildren Cody Crutchley, Caitlin Crutchley, Adam Klosterman and wife Courtney, Leslie Klosterman and fiancé Tony Nester, Hannah Klosterman, Emily Ridgely, great-grandson Landon Eichelmann and niece Darlene Canfield. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Nan Pue and fiancé Pete Cody, his brother-in-law Michael Pue Jr. and wife Betty, and his very good friend Eric Cooper, whom he thought of as another son.

The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A. at 106 E Church St, Frederick, MD 21701 on Sunday January 7, 2024 from 12:00 – 3:00 pm.  Interment will be at Glade Cemetery in Walkersville at the convenience of the family.
