Earl Wilson Knight

Earl Wilson Knight, Jr., went to be with the Lord at 86 years of age on May 11th, 2021. Left to cherish Earl’s memory is his wife of 40 years, Janice E. Knight. Earl is survived by his loving sons Jason (Jake) E. Knight and Brooke A. Knight, and his devoted daughter-in-law, Brooke’s wife Cher Knight. Earl had a special place in his heart for his granddaughter Beatrix M. Knight. He is also survived by his sister Adrienne Wahlbrink. He was born on July 22, 1934, to the late Earl W. Knight, Sr., and Lillian Huggins Knight.

With a quick smile and a quicker wit, Earl made friends easily. An active bowler into his eighties, he was on several league teams over the years. He also had a great passion for working with and fixing clocks, and the house came alive every quarter-hour with the sound of chimes. He picked up painting and other hobbies later in life to keep his mind and body active. He was kind, smart, handy with tools, and extremely generous. He was filled with compassion for the people he loved, and he always gave more than he received.

He and his beloved wife Janice made their home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, where they happily retired after many successful years running their chain of laundromats together in and around Baltimore, Maryland. He enjoyed his time as a member of the Edgewood Church of God community, and he was thankful to be able to work on the stained glass window project.

In addition to his immediate family, Earl loved all of the members of his extended family and his many friends.

Visitation will be held on May 22nd at 10am at Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Rd, Frederick, MD 21702. A funeral service will be held there at 11 am, with the burial immediately afterward in Rocky Springs Cemetery.
