Dr. Salvatore Joseph Caradonna, 71, of Frederick, passed away at his home on Monday July 15, 2024. Born in Marlboro, New York on May 5, 1953 to the late Joseph and Mary (Trapani) Caradonna. He was the beloved husband to Christine Marie Caradonna.
Salvatore graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1980 and obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmacology. He was the head of the molecular biology department and taught as a Professor for Rowan University. He retired after 35 years at Rowan in 2024.
Salvatore loved playing golf and pickleball as well as spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He enjoyed bringing everyone together and hosting family get-togethers where he would prepare delicious meals.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by; his children, Gina Karas (Michael), Nick Caradonna (Kelsey), Jennnifer Gordon (Jon), Tommy Melanson, and Shannon Melanson (Brian), his grandchildren, Isla, Luke, and Margot Gordon, and niece and nephew Jessica and Skye Caradonna, and sister-in-law Linda Caradonna. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Bernie Caradonna.
Family and friends can gather at Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church Street, Frederick, Md 21701, on Friday July 19, 2024, from 1pm until the start of the Celebration of Life at 2pm.
