Dorothy Louise Michael

Dorothy Louise Michael, 85, of Charles Town, WV, formerly of Frederick Co., MD, passed May 14, 2019. Born November 13, 1933, she was the daughter to the late Harry Russell and Viola Staley Baker. She was the beloved wife to William David Lutman and Alfred Lee Michael, Sr.

Dorothy was a substitute teacher for Brunswick Elementary and Middle schools for over 30 years. She loved children and volunteered her time by tutoring and mentoring children in the community.  She enjoyed maintaining her house and gardens to perfection, mapping family genealogy, painting fine china, baking pies, and collecting dolls.

Surviving are daughter Cathi George, son William R. Lutman and wife Margaret Lutman, daughter Susan E. Whelan and husband Michael Whelan, son, Alfred Michael, Jr. and wife Sonya Michael, her sister; Carolyn Gastley and Sharon Thompson, her grandchildren; Christina, Michael, David, Karen, Benjamin, Alyssa, Sophie, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by siblings; R. Linwood Baker, Shirley Graham, Harry Baker, Jr., Cyril Baker, and Linda Baker.

Family and friends can gather at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701 on Sunday May 19, 2019 from 2 pm – 5pm. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Monday May 20, 2019 at 11 am. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
