Mrs. Doris Eugenia Hemp Gaither, 98, of Adamstown, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Buckinghams Choice. She was the wife of the late Francis S. "Frank" Gaither, Jr., who died on February 15, 2001. Born in Frederick on January 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Elgin and Helen Roelke Hemp.
Doris was a graduate of the Union Memorial Hospital Nursing Program and for many years worked as a registered nurse at Frederick Memorial Hospital and in private nursing. She and her husband Frank had owned and operated Zimmerman's Florist for many years. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, a life member of The Frederick Garden Club, and a member of the auxiliary to Frederick Memorial Hospital and volunteered with Select Seconds.
Doris was a member of the Good Samaritan's Club of Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are her three daughters, Susan Gaither Rice and husband Stephen, Doris Jeanne Gaither Korrell and husband Terry, and Helen Catherine "Cathy" Karl and life partner Ray Frank, all of Frederick, grandchildren, Stephanie Rice Fields and husband Tim, Rebecca Rice Gutierrez and husband Michael, Stacey Korrell Moler and husband Kevin, Bradley E. Korrell and wife Gina, Thomas L. Korrell, Matthew R. Korrell and wife Jenn, Erik A. Karl and wife Julie and Michael G. Karl and wife Melissa, and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, John E. A. Karl III and she was the last of her immediate family.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, January 25, 2019, at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The Rev. Dr. Stephen Larsen, will officiate. Those wishing to attend should assemble within the main gate of the cemetery, by 10:45 AM.
