Dente Lester Brashear, Sr.

Dente L. Brashear Sr., 70, of Frederick, MD, died Thursday, October 6, 2022, at MedStar Hospital, Washington, D.C., after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. He was the husband of Sherald L. Brashear. They were married 51 years on October 9.

Dente was the son of Grace Brashear Winpigler of West Palm Beach, FL, and the late Ralph L. Brashear

A 1970 graduate of Linganore High School, Dente was active in the 4-H and FFA programs. For many years he served as a 4-H leader, superintendent of the Frederick County 4-H Sheep Barn at the Great Frederick Fair and little league baseball coach.

Dente was an HVAC technician with his employer N.E. "Bob" Waltz , commanding his talents and thoroughness at many businesses and residences throughout the tri-state area.

Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are, daughter, Stacy Brashear Ferguson (Colby) of Walkersville; son, Dente L. Brashear Jr. (Dana) of Biglerville, PA;  sister, Becky Brashear of West Palm Beach, FL; five grandchildren Chase Ferguson and Mickinzi Ferguson, both of Oklahoma, Mackenzie Bender of Silver Spring; and Keller and Kash Brashear of Biglerville, PA; sister-in-law, Paula Oden of Frederick; two brother in laws, Frankie White of Frederick and Billy White of South Carolina; an aunt, Joy Harshman of Bradenton, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend Gene Snowden. He was predeceased by his father and mother in-law Bill and Pauline White; and brother-in-law and best friend Rick Oden, whom Dente assisted in his care for many years.

The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD. Family will also receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Monday, October 17 at Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821 Green Valley Road, Monrovia, MD. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Revs. Leo and Melissa Barnes officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
