David Tilghman Tobery, Sr. died suddenly on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at his residence in Inwood, West Virginia. David was born on August 20, 1948 in Frederick, Maryland to the late Florence Mae Wetzel Tobery and the late Arthur George Tobery, Sr. where he attended Frederick High School and discovered his musical talent. He spent his working career as a contractor, retiring from Sunshine Management Co. then starting his own contracting business. When not working in construction, Dave exercised his musical talents singing karaoke and playing in various bands. In his off hours, he enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and playing the slots. Dave was married for 13 years to his best friend, Mary Kay (Opie) Tobery. Dave is survived by his loving children, Marsha Tobery, David Tobery, Jr., Mike Tobery, Angela Tobery, Ashley Harrison, Samantha Tobery and Crystal Tobery. He is the bonus-dad of Kim and Kathy Watkins, Christina Collins, Arlena McCauley, Heather Burdette, Nevaeh and Felysha Getts, Brenda Wilson, Roy, Raymond and Ricky Shafer. Dave was always supported and cheered by his right-hand-man, Braxton Johnson. He is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends that all loved him dearly. He is also survived by his sister Wanda Carey. Sadly, Dave is predeceased not only by his parents, but his daughter, the late Lisa Tobery Main and his siblings, the late Ralph Wetzel, Gerrald Tobery, Sr. and Arthur Tobery, Jr. He was a long-time member of the Riverbend Palace, F.W. Amvets and Frederick Redman's Club. Dave worked hard for his family and played even harder. A natural born entertainer, he enjoyed playing practical jokes, laughing as hard as humanly possible always surrounded by friends and family. He had a zest for life. Friends and relatives may call on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Homes, P.A. 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701 where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 6 at 11:30 a.m. in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment Mt.
