Dare Whirley Baker

Dare Whirley Baker, 71, passed on Saturday July 27, 2024, at the Mercy House of Chambersburg, PA. Born in Maryland to the late Charles L. Whirley and Doris J. (Hall) Hayes. She was the beloved wife of Douglas Ray Baker.

Dare graduated from Damascus High School and would later obtain her nursing degree from Frederick Community College. She worked for over 20 years as a nurse with Middletown Valley Family Medicine.

Dare always loved cooking, especially for others. She would make sure everyone was full before leaving her home. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings. Dare also enjoyed visiting the beach where she would sit on her balcony and watch the waves and dolphins.

In addition to her husband, Dare is survived by, her daughter Daren O. Lucas (Jason), her grandchildren, Max Chumbris, Shea Chumbris, Piper Lucas, Tristen Baker, and Lane Baker, her step-grandchildren, Kelsey Ivascu and Timothy Golliday, her siblings, Tina Luparello, Joe Luparello, Elaine Hayes, and Anna Abel, her daughter-in-law Penny Baker and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son Scott Douglas Baker.

Family and friends can gather at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701 on Saturday August 10, 2024, at 12pm for a memorial service.
