Clare Marie Braune

Clare Marie Braune, 83, of Frederick, MD went to be with the Lord on the evening of February 1, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lorraine Klenner.

Clare is survived by her husband of 61 years, Norman W. Braune; her three children Mark Braune, John Braune (wife Patricia Braune), and Cindy Salah (husband John Salah); five grandchildren Maria Braune, John F. Braune, Michelle (Salah) Marple (husband Garrett Marple), Victoria Salah, and Olivia Salah; Clare's sister Mary Ellen Wegrzyn (husband George); six children Christine (husband Randy), Kevin Wegrzyn (wife Beverly), Carol Mazanek (husband Rick), Cathy Seward (husband Charles), Rene Abernathy, Steven Wegrzyn (wife Pam) and Clare’s sister-in-law Norma Randolph (husband Charles & daughter Robin). Clare and Norm had a licensed foster home in Detroit, MI fostering Larry, Maria, Michelle, and Donald. Clare provided care for children at the Catonsville, MD German Children’s Home.

Clare Braune was the first non-degree Certified Nurse Practitioner in Maryland.

She was a woman of great faith in Jesus who volunteered in her parish St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor Catholic Church in the Office, as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Sacristan. Clare was a missionary to Haiti twice and directed the Eucharistic Ministers from St. Joseph’s on Carrollton Manor at Frederick Memorial Hospital, where she and her husband gave communion on Sundays. Clare and her husband were members of the Mother of God community for 12 years and belonged to the God’s Love Prayer community in Columbia Maryland. Clare was an affectionate and loving wife and mother, who was a good cook, had a beautiful infectious laugh, enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, puzzles, flowers, and playing the piano.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 10 am in St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor Church, 5843 Manor Woods Road, Frederick. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring at 2 pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.keeneybasford.com.
