Kathy, a remarkable soul who touched the lives of many with her compassion, creativity, and love passed away peacefully on Oct 17th, 2023. She was 67 years old.
Born on December 13th, 1955, in Wheaton, MD, Kathy dedicated her life to the service of others as a home caregiver. Her nurturing spirit and selfless commitment to providing comfort and support to those in need left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she cared for. Kathy brought warmth and solace to others, embodying the true essence of kindness and empathy. In her home life, she was a friend others could go to for support and in a time of need.
Beyond her caregiving role, Kathy was a talented artist whose creations, throughout her life, reflected the beauty she saw in the world. Her artistic endeavors were a testament to her natural talent, love of nature and desire to create something of herself. Whether through drawing, wood burning, or other mediums, she expressed emotions and told stories through her art.
A lover of the outdoors, Kathy found solace and joy in nature’s embrace. She loved camping and fishing and reveled in the beauty of the natural world. Her connection to the outdoors was a source of happiness and rejuvenation, shaping her appreciation for the simple wonders of life.
Animals held a special place in Kathy's heart, and her home was a haven for many creatures. Her love for animals extended beyond mere companionship; it was a testament to her compassionate nature. Rescuing and caring for animals in need brought her immeasurable joy, embodying her love, compassion, and warmth.
Kathy is survived by her mother, Elois Donaldson, her devoted daughter Jessica Stephens and her husband Fred and their son Frederick, her loving son James Cook and his wife Christine, and their children Cadyn, Colten, Jessalynn and JaeLeigh, and siblings, Sharon, Charlene, and Bobby. She will be remembered for her love of family and the kindness she had for anyone she called friend.
A memorial service to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held on Nov 1st, 2023, 11am at Kenney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD and burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to ASPCA in Kathy's honor.
Kathy will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and joy she brought to others throughout her remarkable journey.
