Charles Marshall Bartholow entered into eternal peace on June 14, 2023 in Waynesboro, PA. Charles was born and raised in Frederick, MD and is the son of Charles M. Bartholow, Sr. and Helen V. Poole - Bartholow.
He enjoyed talking with others, sharing life stories, time with family and making jokes. In his free time, he enjoyed putting puzzles together and framing them to give away at nursing homes and to others. He also enjoyed collecting 8mm black and white movies such as Laurel and Hardy and Abbot Costello.
Charles was honorably discharged from the US Army as an SP5 having served from 1957 - 1963 and was awarded a good conduct medal. He was trained in vehicle maintenance and was stationed in Augsburg, Germany.
Charles worked at the Everedy Company for 26 years. In the late 70's he did electrical work for a few months at Thomas' English Muffins to assist in the initial start up of the local plant. After that he worked at the FCC as an electrician until his retirement in 1996.
Charles is survived by a sister, Lois Cline, and is the loving uncle of Harry Shank, Jr. (Karen Fuss), Raymond Cline (Jayme), Warren Cline (Sonja), Charmaine Vaughn (Dwayne), Rodney Cline (Libby) and Tammy Adkins (Edward), great uncle of Matthew Cline, Edward Adkins, Jr. DJ Vaughn and Dustin Shank. He is also survived by one great-great nephew and one great-great niece. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sister Virginia "Sis" Shank, brothers-in-law Harry Shank, Sr. and Russell Cline, Jr.
In the 1960's into the early 1970's Charles and his father owned and operated seven carnival rides while his mother ran the cotton candy and apple stand at local and regional carnivals. In retirement Charles routinely volunteered at the Golden Living Nursing Home for 23 years.
Family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P. A., 106 E. Church Street on Tuesday June 20, 2023 from 1 - 2 pm. Service will begin at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grane Hospice, 1200 Camp Hill Bypass, Suite 205, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Online condolences may be left at www.keeneybasford.com
