Cecil "Sonny" Grubbs

Cecil A. "Sonny" Grubbs was born July 20, 1939 to the late Cecil Arlington Grubbs and Mary Catherine Grubbs. He passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025. Sonny was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Grubbs, sister Mary Grubbs, daughter Kathie Jordan and stepson Gary Alley. He is survived by his wife Sharon, whom he loved and adored. He is also survived by his son Clay Grubbs (Shirley), daughter Cindy Greer (Mike), his brother Mike Grubbs (Ellie), and stepdaughter Deanie Pugh (Kevin). Sonny was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who loved him dearly and shared many wonderful memories with him. Sonny was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Glen Echo, Maryland. He joined the Navy. He later became a commercial plumber, and in his later years worked as a foreman for Tyler Mechanical in Frederick, Maryland. At home, Sonny enjoyed being outdoors. He spent many hours golfing, fishing, and riding his bike. He loved spending time with family. He could always be found putting jigsaw puzzles together. He loved his church family at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. A funeral service will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Carrollton Manor, 5843 Manor Woods Road, Frederick, Maryland 21703 on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. A Graveside service will immediately follow at Manor Reformed Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either Frederick Health Hospice (https://www.frederickhealthhospice.org), or St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor Catholic Church (https://stjoesbuckeystown.org).
