Carol Orlando

Mrs. Carol Orlando, 92, of Frederick passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Orlando. Born on February 21, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Sara Picchiello.

Known for her generosity and selfless nature, she very much enjoyed volunteering and helping others. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Carol M. Orlando and husband Dr. Thomas E. Horton and Dr. Thomas C. Orlando and wife Jennifer M. Orlando and her grandchildren Thomas S. Horton JD, Nicole Orlando, Olivia Orlando, and Sienna Orlando.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 7-9 pm at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10 am in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes at the Georgetown Preparatory School, 1900 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda. The interment will be on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 10 AM at the Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, New York. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Orlando's name to The Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
