Carl Henry Shores

Carl “Bootie” Henry Shores, 86, of Frederick, MD passed away on Wednesday October 30, 2024.  “Bootie” was born in Jefferson, MD on February 14, 1938 to the late Carl David and Agnes (Price) Shores.  He was the beloved husband of Nancy Lee Shores for 65 wonderful years.

Carl had a career as a heavy equipment operator, and considered himself blessed to have had the opportunity to work side by side with his son for many, many years.  He was also a United States Army veteran who was proud to have served his country.

“Bootie” enjoyed being with his family.  He would make time to visit siblings every week and was always ready to challenge them to a hand of cards.   He was the host of Christmas Eve dinner every year.  Carl also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping in West Virginia.

Carl is survived by his children Bobbie "Jeanie" Welty and Carl “Skip” David Shores and wife Tina, his grandchildren Gregory Baker, Ryan Shores, wife Michelle, and a soon to be great granddaughter Presley Shores, in addition to  numerous extended family members.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and six siblings;  Ann Welty, Violet “Bobby” Baugher, Catherine Mayne, Bernard “Sonny” Shores, Bertha “Bert” McKenzie, Rosie Burrier, and George Shores.

Family and friends can gather at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, PA., 106 East Church Street, Frederick MD 21701, on Wednesday November 6, 2024 from 4pm-7pm.  A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday November 7, 2024 at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Garden, Frederick MD.  Pallbearers will be Scotty Bodmer, Marc Combs, Larry Fellows II, Mark McKenzie,, Billy Shores and Dave Shores.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl.17, Chicago, IL 60601.
