Casper “Frosty” Betson, Jr., 81, of Frederick, MD, passed on Saturday November 30, 2024 at the Kline Hospice House. Born in Frederick on May 4, 1943 to the late Casper Frost and Betty M. (Crawford) Betson, Sr. He was the beloved husband, of 60 years, to his high school sweetheart Phyliss Carol (Nininger) Betson.
Frosty worked for the federal government for 43 years. He started work with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) then he worked for Fort Detrick. Finally, he would work for the Downtown Frederick Post Office until his retirement in 2009.
Frosty enjoyed maintaining a garden where he would grow different flowers and produce. He helped operate his parent’s shop, Mimi’s Ceramics, where he would create various ceramic figurines. Frosty loved Christmas and would spend time with family and friends creating wreaths and other decorations.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by, his children Michael Frost Betson (Kanda), Richard Carlis Betson (Sharon), and Shelby Marsden (Kyle), his grandchildren, Ryan Betson, Cody Betson (Kayla) , Cheyenne Van (Peter), Stephen Marsden (Tina), Quinn Marsden, Chance Marsden, and Aiden Marsden, his great-grandchildren Alyssa Heil and Payton Marsden, and close friend Dan Putman.
Family and friends can gather at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD, 21701, on Thursday December 5, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday December 6, 2024, at 1pm. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
