Betty Compher Stull

Betty Compher Stull, 98, of Frederick, MD, passed away at her home on November 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 24, 1925 in Frederick and was the daughter of the late Harl and Ruth Compher.

She was the wife of the late Harry “Pete” Stull. They were married for 57 years; he was the love of her life and best friend. Until his death, they enjoyed traveling, playing cards with friends, and dancing every Saturday night to the music of local bands.

She was also predeceased by her son, H. Wayne Stull. His death “left a hole in her heart” that never completely healed.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Barbara S. Howard and husband, Jerry, and daughter-in-law, Sherry Stull. She was the loving grandmother to 5 grandchildren: Jeffrey W. Stull and wife Janice, Wayne E. “Wes” Stull and wife Natalie, Brian E. Howard and wife Grace, Amy H. Barnette and husband Daniel, and Tracey H. Doyle and husband Ryan. In addition, she leaves 4 great-granddaughters: Aubrey Barnette, Adelyn Barnette, Olivia Doyle, and Emily Doyle.

She is also survived by a niece, Vicki McMullen, 4 step-great- grandchildren, Brandon Roberts, Randy Stull, Blake Fisher, and Camryn Fisher and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren: Raelynn Roberts and Rikki Roberts. She adored her family and was proud of every one of them.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the many people who helped with her care and enabled her to end her days at home. Thanks especially to neighbors Esther and Rickey Hartsock, Michelle Howerton, Assisting Hands caregivers Maria Garcia and Amy Rivas, and Frederick Health Hospice, especially nurses Elizabeth Velasquez and Lauren Derby.

The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, Maryland on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 4-7 pm. The funeral service
will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10 am. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
