Barbara Kathleen Klipp

Barbara Kathleen Johnson Klipp, 91, of Frederick, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023 surrounded by her family at the Somerford House. Born in Union Bridge, MD on December 14, 1931 to the late Ira D. and Juanita V. (nee Shifler) Johnson. She was the beloved wife to the late Kenneth E. Klipp.

Barbara is survived by; her children, Patricia Lambert (Charles) of Frederick, Kenneth W. Klipp of Middletown, James Klipp (Deborah) of Gettysburg, Gary Klipp (Pam) of Frederick, and David Klipp (Jay Dee) of Frederick. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her grandson Justin I. Klipp and daughter-in-law Jaqueline Klipp.

Barbara graduated from Frederick High School in 1951. She would go on to work at C and P Telephone Company and became a member of the POOFs of Frederick. Later she would work next to her husband at Klipp and Sons. Inc.

Barbara and Kenneth enjoyed racing and breeding standardbred horses, bowling and traveling across the United States. After her husband's passing, Barbara enjoyed many trips through Barbara Rice Tours, vacationing in Alaska, Hawaii and Ireland. She also enjoyed many outings to the Barbara Fritchie Restaurant, playing cards, and car rides through historic downtown Frederick. She was a member of St. Paul's Utica Lutheran Church and the Rainbow Belles of Frederick.

Family and friends can gather at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701 on Friday May 19, 2023 from 1pm until the start of the funeral service at 2pm. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Barbara’s name to the Frederick Health Hospice, 1 Frederick Health Way, Frederick, MD 21701.
