Arthur Vincent Vento, 93, of Frederick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Frederick Health Hospital.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 16, 1930, he was the son of the late Dominic and Mary (Delandro) Vento. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Julia (Colizza) Vento, his beloved daughter, Patricia Vento, his brothers Robert (Edna) and William (Bonnie), and son- in-law John Fuhrman.
Arthur is survived by his children Dolores Fuhrman, Mary Singleton and her husband Dwayne Singleton, Johann Vento and her husband Michael Linderman, and Arthur J. Vento. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kelly Kearns (Andrew), Colin Singleton (Kate), Ben Singleton, Maria Royce (Brandon), Holly Spainhower (Michael), Francesca Singleton, Mira Linderman- Vento, and Samuel Linderman-Vento, and by 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The focus of Arthur’s life was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family could always count on him to fix any problem or provide a warm hug and a wise word. He was famous for his great sense of humor and beautiful singing voice. He enjoyed fishing, maintaining his lovely garden, and rooting for his favorite baseball and football teams.
Arthur was a veteran of the Korean War and member of the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. He retired after a long career in steel fabrication, most recently with Canam Steel in Point of Rocks, MD. Arthur was a long-time Member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Frederick, MD.
Arthur’s family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of 2C at Frederick Health Hospital for their expert and compassionate care. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Frederick County.
The family will receive friends from 1pm to 6pm, on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, on Monday, February 6, 2023 at St. John's Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd Street, Frederick. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
