Gene William Abrecht

r. Gene William Abrecht, 73, of Frederick, Maryland, died Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Washington County Hospital. He was the husband of Elizabeth "Libby" Abrecht, his wife of 52 years. Born in Frederick on November 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Clyde, Sr. and Wilmoth (Adams) Abrecht. In addition to his wife, Mr. Abrecht is survived by his daughters: Cindy Williams of Phoenix, AZ; Cris Carson and husband John, of Hagerstown; and, Cara Heinrich and Bill, of Waynesboro, PA; his grand-children, Jordan Williams, Jaye Williams Fay and husband Derek, Brittany "Nikki" Carson, Melissa Carson, Travis Carson, Shane Heinrich, Kayla Heinrich, Ryan Heinrich, and Jason Heinrich; his brothers: Frank Abrecht, Sr. and Douglas Abrecht; and, many nieces and nephews.

He was blessed with a close circle of family and friends including, sister-in-law Shirley "Ty" Krantz and husband Phil; nephews: Wayne Abrecht and Frank Abrecht, Jr. and his wife, Linda; and, niece Carolyn Hill and her husband Dave; and long-time friend Cris Ann Shultz.

Much of his joy came from being surrounded by his grand-children and his dog, Brandy.

Mr. Abrecht is preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 415 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland, 21201.
