Barbara Joan Adams Obituary

Barbara Joan Adams, 82, of Frederick, MD, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Northampton Manor. She was the wife of the late Garnett Adams.

Born on June 12, 1928, in Los Angeles. She was the daughter of the late Curtis J. Hyans and Marie Christiansen.

Barbara was an active member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frederick, and formerly a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Whittier, CA. In her spare time, she worked as a hospice volunteer. She served on the advisory board for the Council of Aging in Frederick County and she was active in the Frederick Senior Center. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed attending art classes at the Senior Center.

Surviving are two children, Curtis Adams and wife Tori Chancellor-Adams, of Watertown, MA, Catherine Ciesinski and husband Charles of Frederick, grandchildren, Erik Ciesinski and wife Kelli of Valparaiso, Indiana, Lauren Tankut and husband Doruk of Ankara, Turkey.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010, at 10:30 A.M., at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1415 West Seventh Street, Frederick. Pastor Ron Reaves will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1875 Connecticut Ave. NW #730, Washington, DC or the Frederick County Animal Control Adoption Center, 1832 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick, Maryland 21702. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, 6 Memorial Drive, Fort Myer, Virginia, on Friday, October 22, at 9:00 A.M.
