Virginia Ott Axline

Mrs. Virginia Ott Axline, 91, of Jefferson, died on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the Monteuve Home, in Frederick. Twice married she was the wife of the late Cadwell F. Ott and the late Charles Axline.

Born in Lander on November 7, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Joshua W. and Mary Fawley Lapole.

Mrs. Axline had worked for several years as a teller at the Brunswick Bank. She was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jefferson, where she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir, past president of the WELCA, a prayer partner and shared communion with shut ins at home. She was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Brunswick Chapter 97 and Frederick Chapter 79, she was a past worthy matron. She was also a long time active volunteer at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Surviving her are two sons, Richard F. Ott and wife Eleanor Lea, of Jefferson, Wayne Ott and wife Judy, of Thurmont, two step daughters, Alma Kirkpatrick, of Waynesboro, PA and Beverly Meadows, of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and step son, Ray Axline, also of Shepherdstown, one sister, Helen Edwards, of Frederick, three grandchildren, Adalyn Harbaugh and husband RC, Timothy Ott and wife Fay and Jason Ott and wife Dani, nine great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by special friends, Mary Axline and Scott Wanrow. She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Lapole and one sister, Louise Hossler.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3864 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson. Rev. Katrina L. Holland, pastor of the church, will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery, Jefferson.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Paul Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 637, Jefferson, MD 21755.
