Bruce Oliver Baer, Sr.

Mr. Bruce Oliver Baer, Sr., 79, of Frederick, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Shirley Ann (Bowers) Baer for 57 years.

He was born on May 25, 1932 in Frederick, Maryland and was the son of the late Franklin Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Baer Sr.

Mr. Baer was a service technician at the 7th Street Amoco Gas Station. He was an avid bowler, softball player and bingo player. In his spare time, he enjoyed rooting for the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys and Duke Basketball. Also, he enjoyed feeding his squirrel. He enjoyed spending time with children along with spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he survived by his daughter; Deborah Ann LeGrave and special friend Joseph Marick, sons; Bruce O. Baer Jr. and special friend Susie M. Flynt, Randy R. Baer and wife Nancy and Kevin D. Baer and wife Michelle, sisters; Margaret Knott, Mary O'Hara, Joan Neel and Carol "Kay" Droneburg, brothers; Max Baer, Charles "Baldy" Baer and Ronald Baer, ten grandchildren; Beverly Stitely, Robert LaGrave, Tara Pecynshi, Julie Bridges, Cassie Baer, Corey Baer, Justin Baer, Rachel Baer, Kevin Baer II and Gerritt Baer, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, special friend, Connie Hurst, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters; Betty Jane Stup, Adrianne Brust and Sandra Jean Baer, brothers; Franklin T. Baer Jr., William D. Baer and James L. "Flick" Baer, and great-grandson, Jason Michael Pecynshi.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9pm, on Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Dr. W. Philip Fogarty will officiate. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
