David A. Ball, Jr.

Mr. David Anthony Ball, Jr., 57, of Hagerstown, died on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the Mertius Medical Center, Hagerstown. He was the loving husband of 24 years to Shirley Stream Ball. Born in Jackson, Michigan, on April 27, 1954, he was a son of the late David Anthony, Sr., and Joyce Marie Fullerton Ball. David was a truck driver for Hahn Transportation in New Market and also had worked as a manager for the Riverside Exxon in Frederick. He was a member of the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, and the Frederick Moose Lodge 371. Dave was very active as a volunteer and gave countless hours of fund raising for St. Jude Children's Research. He served his country in the US Army. Surviving in addition to his wife is one son, Michael A. Ball, of Hagerstown, one brother, Jeff J. Ball and wife Sherry, of Sarasota, Fla., mother-in-law, Margie Stream, of Frederick, and brothers and sister-in-laws, Bill and Linda Philpott, and Jane M. Hamburg, all of Thurmont, John I. Stream and Paul R. Stream, both of Frederick, Nelson M. Stream and wife Cindy of Ijamsville and Ralph L, Stream and wife Jean, of Fla.,also surviving are many nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Nelson M. Stream, Jr., and Roger Remsburg, Jr. He will be remembered by special friends, Raymond Frye and Michael and Mandy Stream. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ralph Stream. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 5, 2011, from the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. James S. Flora, will officiate. Interment will be private.
