Michael Lee Basore

Mr. Michael Lee Basore, 64, of Hagerstown and formerly of Frederick, died on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, while enjoying one of his greatest passions. He was the beloved fianc of Bobbie L. Martin. Born Aug. 12, 1946, he was the son of the late Lt. Col. Harold "Slab" Basore, MSP retired, and Geraldine "Jerry" Kern Basore.

Mike retired from the Defense Mapping Agency after 34 years and became a gentleman farmer on their property near Hagerstown, where he was able to enjoy more fully a relaxed lifestyle and time spent with Bobbie. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working around the farm and with their animals.

He is survived by a number of cousins, including a devoted cousin, Carolyn O'Hara of New York. In addition to his parents, he had been preceded in death by a sister who died in infancy, Nancy Basore.

Friends may gather to remember Mike from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Frederick County 4-H Camp Center, 3702 Basford Road, Frederick. Interment will be private.
