Mr. William "Bill" Henry Biddinger, Jr., 79, of Thurmont, died Friday, October 29, 2010 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Ruby Biddinger. They were married for 59 years.
Born July 28, 1931 in Frederick, he was the son of the late William Henry, Sr., and Clara Marie Kolb Biddinger.
He worked as a machinist for Mack Truck, retiring after 25 years of service. Bill was a charter life member of the Lewistown Fire Department. He was associated wtih the Fire/Police for many years.
In March of 1977, Bill received special recognition from the Frederick Sertoma Club for Outstanding Leadership Service to the Citizens of Frederick County for his volunteerism as a fireman during a blizzard that winter. He was very kind hearted and would help anyone in need of assistance.
In addition to his service with the fire company, Bill loved hunting, fishing, and trapping.
He was a great collector of everything, but mostly an avid toy collector.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by three children, William Ed Biddinger and wife, Rose; Anna Maria Dingle and husband, Dennis; and David W. Biddinger, and wife, Marsha; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Woods; and many nieces and nephews.
He also will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and companion, Tinkerbell.
Bill was predeceased by his step-father, Joseph Brashears.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3 from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. James S. Flora.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Serving as bearers will be Larry Eby, Mikey Bonner, Butch Ramsburg, Jeff Lemon, Delbert Stull, Andrew McFerren, Mark Mentzer, and Jason Shillingburg.
