Harvey Botkin

Harvey Botkin, 94, passed away peacefully on October 29, after a full and meaningful life. The second child of Lena Kapiloff Botkin and Jack Robert Botkin, he was born in Bayonne, NJ, on February 4, 1916. He is survived by loving wife Beverly Spoerke Botkin, his adoring children Dr. Marshall Botkin, (wife Sharon Botkin) of Frederick MD and Dr. Bree Hayes, (husband Dr. Richard Hayes) of Mobile, AL. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jon Levin, Ali Hall, Gillian Hayes, and Ginny Botkin, as well as one great grandchild, Anna Hall. Known for his quick wit and humanitarian and civic spirit, Harvey was always the life of the party. He married his high school sweetheart, Gerry Botkin in 1939 in Newark, NJ and lived most of his life in Washington, DC, where he was a successful entrepreneur and commercial artist. Upon the loss of Gerry, he moved to Lehigh Acres and was blessed to have found and married the second love of his life. His kindness, sense of humor and good nature will be truly missed. A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway (U.S. Route 15 North) Frederick, Maryland 21701, on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 2:00 PM.
