Mrs. Bessie Mildred "Betsy" Brown, 83, of Frederick, went home to be with the Lord, on August 29, 2010. She was the wife of the late Charles O. Brown, who died on March 10, 1998. Born in Middletown on March 14, 1927, she was a daughter of the late John and Bertha Smith Remsberg. For many years Mrs. Brown had owned and operated several local restaurant's in Frederick. She was a member of the Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, in Middletown. Mrs. Brown was a resident of the Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, for 25 years, where she enjoyed church services, watching the Orioles, Ravens and playing bingo. Surviving are her two sons, Wayne O. Brown and Janiece, of Jefferson and Ronald E. Brown and Sharon, of Frederick, two grandchildren, Jeff Brown and Katie, Heather Connor and Andrew and four great grandchildren. She will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John C. and Guy W. Remsberg, one sister, Margaret Morgan. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 2, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Mark A. Wakefield, pastor of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the auxiliary of Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, 1900 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21702.
