Mr. Guy Putman Burdette, 88, of Harpers Ferry, WV, died on Friday, February 11, 1922 at Shenandoah Center in Charles Town, WV. He was the husband of Charlotte Burdette. The last of 10 siblings, he was born on September 6, 2011 in Clarksburg, MD, he was the son of the late Herbert K. and Lillie (Piquette) Burdette.

Mr. Burdette was a 1940 graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville. Upon his graduation, he entered the Armed Forces, joining the U.S. Army Air Force. He served from 1941 through 1945 and spent much time in the European Theater, in England. Upon his discharge, he began working at Bowers Lumber Yard and then as a salesperson for Delvin Lumber Company. When he retired, he delivered parts for Burdette Brothers. He was a member of the Charles Town American Legion Post 0071 and the Mt. Airy VFD Post 10076. Later in life, he enjoyed eating breakfast and spending mornings at the Country Caf in Harpers Ferry, the establishment he referred to as the beanery.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Burdette is survived by sons Guy Martin Burdette and wife Susan of Florida and Charles Lee Burdette and wife Diane of Frederick and step-daughters Sandra Duffy of Hampstead, Katrina Bunnell and husband Curt of North Carolina, Teresa Masser and husband Robert of Falling Waters, WV and Candy Rothenhoefer and fianc Troy Holly. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 13 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 14 at 11 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, the Rev. Georgia Dubose officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice of the Panhandle, Jefferson County Office, 73 Edmond Road, Suites 3 and 4, Kearneysville, WV 25430 or St. Johns Episcopal Church, 898 Washington Street, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425.
