Mr. Eugene Thomas "Gene" Comegys, 76, of Frederick, died on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, in Mt. Airy. Born in Clarksburg on December 9, 1934, he was a son of the late Cornelius R. and Letha Beauchamp Comegys. Mr. Comegys was retired from the Washington , DC, water department. He served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed woodworking and listening to country music. Gene will be remembered by his loving family; daughter Michele C. Hahn and husband Robert, son, Kevin E. Comegys and wife Karen, grandchildren, Ryan Hahn, Kristopher and Kearston Comegys, sisters, Juanita Grimes, Arlene Hawkins and Rose Burgess, and several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by his former wife, Lula Comegys. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Hahn and a brother, Wallace L. Comegys. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m., on Sunday, February 20, 2011, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, February 21, 2011, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Chaplain Dave Oravec, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be, Ryan Hahn, Robert Hahn, Kristopher Comegys and Brad Hallock. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or to Frederick Community Action Agency, 100 South Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
