Alice Patton Walker Conley died Wednesday at Glade Valley Nursing Home in Walkersville, Md. Born Feb 15, 1916, at Ft. Robinson, Neb., she was the daughter of Col. Richard Wilde Walker and Mrs. Alice Patton Walker of Huntsville, Ala. She attended many schools around the country before her parents retired to Ijamsville, Md. After one year at Hood College, she transferred to the University of Arizona. There she joined Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, which last year noted the 75th year anniversary of her graduation. In 1939 she married Dr. Charles Henry Conley, jr. of Buckeystown, Md. After Dr. Conley's service in World War II, they settled permanently in Frederick. Mrs. Conley was active at All Saints' Episcopal Church, the Orton Society, Frederick Preservation Advisors, Alliance Francaise, and the Record Street Home for the Aged. A devoted mother and grandmother, Mrs. Conley is survived by her three children, Elizabeth C. Clagett and Charles W. Conley of Frederick, and Shelby W. Conley of Washington DC., eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 16 at 12:00 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to The Record Street Home for the Aged, 115 Record Street, Frederick, Md.21701. Funeral arrangements have been made by Keeney and Basford.
