Mary Ann Cooling

Mrs. Mary Ann Cooling, 71, of Frederick died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in New Port Richey, Florida, after a long battle of cancer that lasted nearly 13 years. She was the wife of Richard A. Cooling. They were married on March 24, 1984.

Born November 3, 1939 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Magdalene Gilbert Knipple.

Mrs. Cooling retired from Farmers and Mechanics Bank after a long period of service, the last being at the East Patrick Street location.

A loving and caring person, she also was an organ donor. However, due to her cancer, her eyes were the only organs suitable for donation. Those went to aid wounded veterans.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Cooling is survived by one son, William H. Myers, III, and wife, Carol, of Keymar; one daughter, Melissa East and husband, Robert, of Mt. Airy; three grandchildren, Jennifer Divelbliss of Greencastle, Pa.; and Melanie East and R.J. East, both of Mt. Airy; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor Rinehart, and Rylea, Brayden and Rachel Divelbliss.

She was predeceased by a brother, John Knipple.

Mrs. Cooling also will be remembered by her dear friends and neighbors, Jim and Jill Grove of Frederick.

The family also wishes to extend their many thanks to her special friends in Florida, Larry and Betty Cooling, Robert and Lynn Hach, and Bill and Marion Bartlett. They provided comfort and care to Mrs. Cooling and her family at the time surrounding her death.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services. Officiating will be Deacon John L. Manley.

Inurnment will follow at the Mausoleum of Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
