Mrs. Donna Jean Butler Cowan, 58, of Frederick, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was the wife of the late Ronnie G. Cowan Sr. Born on July 11, 1952, in Frederick, Maryland. She was the daughter of Donald R. Butler Sr. and late Dolly Mae Zimmerman,and step-daughter to Mrs. Betty Butler, of Frederick. Donna was a devoted nurse at Springfield State Hospital for 31 years. She enjoyed trips to the Outer Banks and spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionatly referred to her as "MeeMaw". Surviving in addition to her parents are three children, Ronnie G. Cowan Jr., and girlfriend Crystal Sheppard, Benjamin M. Cowan, and Samantha L. Cowan and boyfriend Wayne James, all of Frederick, her grandchildren, Shannon M. Cowan, of Georgia, Victoria E. Cowan, Ronnie G. Cowan III, Devin E. Cowan, all of Frederick, her step-brothers, Donald R. Butler Jr., Daniel Butler, her step-sister, Debbie B. D'Alura, three special friends, Joseph E. Roebuck Jr., Nan Roebuck and Jennifer McLaughlin and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, to her husband and mother, she was preceded in death by her fiance, Joseph E. Roebuck Sr. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., on Tuesday, August 24, at the Keeney and Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 25, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Betty Jane Weedon will officiate.
