Nancy Lou Lakel Cramer, 73, of Thurmont passed away peacefully on July 23, 2011. She was the wife of Kenneth Lambert Cramer Sr., whom she married March 30, 1956. Born in Lewistown, Maryland, she was the daughter of Charles Franklin and Clementine Foland Lakel. Nancy grew up in Urbana, Maryland. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1956 and attended Frederick Community College. She spent most of her working years employed with local and State government. She was Administrative Aide to Frederick City Police Chief Charles V. Main, Secretary to Circuit Court Judges Robert E. Clapp and Samuel W. Barrick, Administrative Aide to Sheriff Donald Barnes and Frederick County Health Officer James E. Bowes. She was the first female Bailiff for Frederick County Court. She retired in 1996 from Maryland State Highway Administration as Administrative Assistant to the District Engineer of Construction. She enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. The most important thing in her life was caring for her family and giving guidance and support to her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Kenneth Lambert Cramer Jr. of Harpers Ferry, WV; Stacey Lou Jones, Thurmont; Leslee Janel Forster and husband, Chris, Waynesboro, PA; Warren Scott Cramer and wife, Sherry, of Denver, NC. Surviving also are six grandchildren, Joshua David Cramer and wife Lindsay of Charlestown, WV; Timothy Allen Cramer and wife Jessica, of Ranson WV; Matthew Todd Cramer, New Market, MD; Janel Marguerite Stephey and husband Charlie, Johnstown, PA; Melissa Nicole Pappas and fianc Doug Bell, New Windsor, MD; Brittani Marie Cramer, Denver, NC. Six great grandchildren, Jude Trenton and Rogen Stephey, Kylee Lynn and Aubry Lee Cramer, Gage Cramer and Trenten Alekzandar Bell. She is also survived by three sister-in-laws, Shirley Pearl Lakel, Harriet Mossburg Lakel, and Beverly Cramer Kinsey and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn G. Knode and Dorothy E. McKenzie and two brothers, Charles (Sonny) F. Lakel Jr. and William A. Lakel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, July 27th at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, where Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, July 28th at 11am. Interment will be private. Donations may be sent in her name to the charity of one's choice.
