John Patrick Crosby

Mr. John Patrick "Pat" Crosby Jr., 82, of Frederick, died peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2011. He was the husband of Elinor M. Crosby for 57 years.

He was born on October 31, 1928 in Washington D.C. He was the son of the late John P. Crosby Sr. and Gladys Louise Crosby. He attended St. Johns College where he made many life long friends. He served in the Naval Reserves. He worked at Southern Railway before going to work at the Montgomery County Police Dept. as a Dispatcher where he retired after 20 years of service. During his retirement, he moved to Vero Beach, Florida where he was active as an usher and Eucharistic Minister for St. Helens Catholic Church. He continued his community service by being active in the Knights of Columbus and delivering Meals on Wheels to local seniors. Pat also enjoyed being active with the American Legion as their book keeper. In his early years, league bowling was his passion while in his later years golf and the Washington Redskins became his pastimes.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Richard L. Alexander and wife Rosemary, Michael J. Crosby and wife Frankie, Timothy H. Crosby and wife Susan, two daughters, Kathleen C. Fisher and husband Scat, Patricia A. Hughes and husband Daniel, 12 grandchildren, Ricky, Melissa, Christina, Debra, Shawn, Ryan, Connor, Meghan, Taylor, Keegan, Ian and Skyler, and 5 great-Grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son Kevin P. Crosby.

The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A memorial service will follow in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. Pastors Tim and Donna Ritchey Martin will officiate. Interment will be private.
