Rita Marie Custer

Mrs. Rita Marie Custer, 81,of Frederick, passed away with her loving family by her side on Sunday, April 24, 2011 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert Custer.

She was born on February 2, 1930 in Washington D.C. and was the daughter of the late John and Theresa Keefe. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church for over 50 years and a member of the Catholic Daughters and the St. Peters Ladies Group. Rita was an avid bowler in her early years. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, crafts and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Rose Grimes and husband Allen, Tom Custer and wife Carol, Sandy Hubbard and husband Larry, Chrissy Custer, Sherry Curto and husband Joe and Wayne Custer and wife Susan, grandchildren, Josh Grimes and wife Penny, Seth Grimes, Corey Grimes, Philip Custer, Scott Custer, Tara Custer, Steve Hubbard, Keith Hubbard, Sara Derival and husband Velly, Katie Hubbard, Joey Curto, Ashley Curto, Jessica Curto, Wayne Custer Jr. and Ryan Custer, great-grandchildren, Jacob Grimes, Megan Grimes, Brandon Hubbard and Emma Hubbard, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends, from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am, on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. Second Street, Frederick. Father Richard Gray will officiate. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 515 South Market Street, Frederick.
