Mr. George Charles DeLany, Jr., age 21 of Frederick passed away on or around Saturday, March 12, 2011 from accidental causes due to exposure to harsh winter conditions in the Loon Lake area of Wayland, New York. Born on November 4, 1989 in Washington DC., he was the devoted son of George and Susan DeLany and loving brother of Caroline DeLany, all of Frederick.
George was a 2008 graduate of Tuscarora High School. He was a photographer for the yearbook during both his Junior and Senior years. George was a third year student at the Rochester Institute of Technology majoring in Photo Journalism before switching to a Political Science major which was first offered in the spring of 2010.
George built his own PC as a high school project and was an avid gamer. For the past two years, he was a student manager at the coffee shop at RIT. His life touched many as evidenced by the outpouring of love and support from both friends and strangers making an effort to find him.
In addition to his parents and sister he is survived by 6 uncles, 9 aunts, and 24 cousins.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd St., Frederick, MD 21701 on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Monsignor Richard Murphy will officiate. The interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's name to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, 112 E. 2nd St., Frederick, MD 21701.
