Sheila Marie Coughlin Desmond

Mrs. Sheila Marie Coughlin Desmond, 65, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grammy and Friend, died on October 8, 2011 at Georgetown University Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of William J. Desmond of Frederick. Born on May 28, 1946 in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Coughlin.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Christine Wells of Estero, FL; Amy Lillis and husband Robert of Evans, GA; Karen Owens and husband Tracy of Aiken, SC; Julie Desmond of Frederick; Patrick Desmond of Frederick; grandchildren Sam and Paige Wells; Brett and Zachary Lillis and Casey and Brooke Owens as well as siblings Michael Coughlin of Fredericksburg, VA; Maureen Zangwill of Fall River, MA and Kathleen Pflock of Tiverton, RI and various nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, William Desmond, III.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 11, from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, October 12 at 10 AM at St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street, Frederick. Interment will be private at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River, MA.
