Dolores C. Dischel

Mrs. Dolores C. Dischel, 91, of Frederick, MD., passed away on Tuesday, July 5th, 2011 at Kline Hospice House, Mount Airy, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Frank Dischel, who died February 9, 2005.

Born January 15, 1920 in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Ramon and Aurea Lopez Corteguera. Mrs. Dischel grew up in Puerto Rico and had attended the University of Puerto Rico, before coming to the Washington, DC area during World War II. She worked for the federal goverment for many years at the Pentagon, the State Department and at the Department of Labor. She was very active in charitable work and volunteering for many years and especailly enjoyed time spent with the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels. She loved painting and art.

She is survived by one son, Frank Ramon Dischel and wife, Sue, of Frederick; a granddaughter, Sierra Denise Dischel; a sister, Gladys Gomez and a brother, Rafeal Corteguera, both of Puerto Rico; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, July 23, 2011 from Keeney and Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer, VA. Online condolences may be shared with the family at keeneybasford.com.
